Welcome to the Maidstone Historical Society's Website

The objectives of the Society are the study of matters of historic interest by means of lectures, discussions and excursions and the dissemination of the results of original research. The annual subscription is £10.

Winter talks are held from 7.30pm at the
Methodist Church Community Centre,
Brewer Street, Maidstone ME14 1RU

Visitors welcome (£3 per meeting)


The Maidstone Historical Society (The Antiquarians) traces its origins to the Philosophical Society of Maidstone which first met in January, 1825 when the Society owned rooms in Pudding Lane. The name Maidstone Scientific and Antiquarian Society was adopted in 1943, and was further shortened in 1970.

The Friends of Old Maidstone, founde
d in 1932, was amalgamated with the Maidstone Scientific and Antiquarian Society in October, 1963.
